Graduates
Careers open to successful candidates are varied. "Last summer I was the House Engineer in the Corkscrew Wine Bar on Esmonde Street in Gorey. I did front of house for Luan Parle, Roesy, David Kitt, Eleanor McEvoy and Mary Coughlin. Now working in Tyrell CCT Ireland Ltd where I basically run the place for them. I purchase, sell and support most of the Digidesign product range along with copious amounts of Apple hardware and software and anything else people want. Some of our customers that I deal with are RTE, Windmill Lane, Screen Scene, The Farm, Limerick IT, Tallaght IT, Lotus Films, Reelgood and many more. I also am solely responsible for the Tyrell Store website."

"I started working with an AV company back in August, just after I finished my course in Pulse. I worked with AVS until February 2008. I was setting up PA systems for conferences and operating them. I got to travel a lot all over the country which was cool. I got offered a two year contract with RTE in December to work in TV Sound dept. Currently I'm working in RTE whenever they need me, which is usually once or twice a fortnight; sometimes more, it varies a lot. I'm hoping the hours will improve the longer I'm there. I'm doing a lot of freelance light and sound work in theatres too, I've been involved in a few tours and musicals. I can honestly say that the 2 year course in Pulse has prepared me for working in the industry, from simple things like wrapping cables properly to knowing the Midas Venice desk inside out. (It's amazing how many people work in live sound who can't wrap a cable or use a mixing desk properly)."

"Since doing the course I have started working in a radio station in Belfast called Feile Fm, it is part of Feile an Phobail one of the biggest community festivals in Europe and I am currently part of their production team and present 2 shows for them on Saturdays. I am also still studying and hope to finish my degree in Music technology in Queens University Belfast. Industry Partners

"The growth of Inflight Dublin's international airline client base has a definite association with the Education Department of Pulse Recording Studios.

As Inflight Dublin grew its business to encompass over sixty airlines worldwide, the need for technically savvy studio staff grew proportionately. Our requirement was for personnel that exhibited a professional grounding in the basics of digital audio engineering combined with an appetite to combine contemporary recording principles with the demands of airborne inflight entertainment systems.

Based on our initial dealings with Pulse, we turned to them directly to fill fledgling posts and to carry out initial evaluations. That was some five years ago. Today Inflight Dublin enjoys a turnover of US$7 million and many of those early Pulse students now hold senior departmental and managerial posts with INFLIGHT DUBLIN.

Our experience with Pulse has been a very positive one and we look forward to working with them again as we work to scale our business."

Three Month Internship as Studio Assistant in The Engine Room

The most "outstanding" student of the year will be offered an internship in The Engine Room.

The winner will be chosen not only on academic results achieved, but also on innovation, motivation and participation in all areas of the course.

As a member of "The Pulse Team", this internship will give you invaluable experience and training for your future as a sound engineer!
